In White Lion Yard, on Church Street, opposite the Post Office, you will find a remarkable collection of old buildings, one dating back to Tudor times, which were saved from dereliction after a rock-fall in 1994, and restored for Mansfield District Council. Most of the yard is let to 'The Cave Wine Bar and Bistro', but there is also a little cluster of caves which have been converted to an unusual visitor attraction, featuring interactive video units designed by Past Forward Ltd., with historical information and pictures from the Old Mansfield Society. You've never seen anything quite like it...

White Lion Yard Closure Reprieve.
Talks with regards to the future of the White Lion Yard Visitor Centre concluded with the decision to allow it to remain open.
The decision was influenced by the fact that the redevelopment of White Lion Yard was possible through a number of grant schemes, and as such is bound to the terms and conditions of such schemes for the economic life of a twenty year period. Therefore, the use of the buildings has to remain as is to date up to approximately the year 2020.
And look here for a glimpse of the yard's history
