2 July 1949: Lady Margaret Cavendish-Bentinck opened St. Mark's garden fete, and was introduced to the Priest-in-charge, Father H. Ironmonger. After the churchwardens had expressed their thanks to Lady Margaret, a charming red-headed little girl, Miss Valerie Allcock presented her with a bouquet of roses.
